Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information ForgeBike collects through this website, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

Effective date: to confirm

Pre-launch draft — not yet legally reviewed.

This document is structured placeholder content written to give the page its final shape. Every highlighted item still needs confirming, and the whole document should be reviewed by a qualified solicitor before ForgeBike launches — particularly where it touches the rent-to-own agreement, which is a regulated area and is not covered by this page.

Who we are

This website is operated by registered company name, a company registered in England and Wales under company number company number, with its registered office at registered address.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy — meaning we decide how and why it is used. Whether registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is required, and the registration number if so, is to confirm.

Information you give us

The only place this website currently asks for personal information is the “Register your interest” form on the Get Started page. That form collects:

  • Your name (required)
  • Your email address (required)
  • Your phone number (optional)
  • Your London borough or area (optional)

You choose what to submit, and the optional fields can be left blank. We ask for your borough because the initial ForgeBike launch is limited to London, and it helps us understand where riders are based.

Information collected automatically

This website does not currently include any analytics, advertising or tracking software, and sets no cookies of its own. Our hosting provider may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs in order to serve and secure the site. The hosting provider, what it logs, and how long it retains those logs are to confirm.

See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to:

  • Contact you about your interest in ForgeBike, including ahead of launch
  • Understand demand and where riders are located, so we can plan the rollout
  • Respond to questions you send us

Our lawful basis for this is your consent, given when you submit the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our service. You can withdraw consent at any time — see “Your rights” below.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Third parties and service providers

We expect to rely on third-party providers for website hosting, form handling and email. The specific providers, the countries their services operate from, and the data-processing terms in place with each of them are to confirm and must be listed here before launch.

If any provider processes personal information outside the UK, the safeguards relied on for that transfer are also to confirm.

We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

How long we keep it

We keep interest-registration details only as long as needed for the purpose they were given for. The specific retention period, and what happens to the details of people who do not go on to become customers, are to confirm.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The specific measures in place — including who can access submissions and how they are stored — are to confirm.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Ask us to restrict how we use it
  • Object to our use of it
  • Ask us to transfer it to you or another provider
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ForgeBike develops. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
